BACALLA WOODS

Disconnect to Connect. In celebrating my Christ's Age, I decided to unplug myself from social media, from mobile communication and from the hustle and bustle of the stressful city life. I wanted to drop everything and go back to basic. To live with the essentials and eliminate the rest. To keep it simple and strengthen my foundation.

When life gets blurry, adjust your focus. I decided to go on an overnight camping in Bacalla Woods to regain my peace, my balance and to focus on what matters most. Family. Friends. Health. Positivity. Spirituality.

Bacalla Woods Campsite is located at Sitio Libo, Barangay Ilaya, San Fernando, Cebu and claims to be the home of the artists, environmentalists, explorers, extreme sports athletes, campers and all nature enthusiasts.

Ian Vincent Bacalla, owner of the property, together with the Maharlikans were so nice to accommodate us despite the double booking of the room.

The Maharlikans

They offered us to stay in their souvenir shop and bought 2 brand new sofa beds and electric fan for my (almost) senior citizen mom to stay for no charge - though we insisted on paying.

Dont Panic, its Organic. They envision to create an organic village where one can survive by feeding with what is around him. One can pick fresh organic fruits and vegetables and raise organic animals naturally.

Tilapia Farming
Coconut Tree - Tree of life
We were blessed with a beautiful weather despite typhoon Basyang, allowing us to experience sleeping in hammocks hanging on trees.

A camping experience  will not be complete without campers gathered around the camp fire.

We spent the night playing card games, jamming, singing and chilling the rest of the night.

As I was already hanging asleep in my hammock in the middle of the woods, I was surprised by a choir singing to me a birthday song on my birthday's eve.

Truly unexpected and appreciated. Thank you for the love.

Chasing Waterfalls.

We signed up to join the group trek to Bugho waterfalls after having our breakfast the next day of our stay.

The trek to Bugho Falls will take one and a half hour walk.

The falls was beautiful in its own way with wild violet ground orchids growing around it.

It was the highlight of our day seeing this hidden gem.

Into the Woods

Few meters away from the Bacalla Campsite, hidden in the woods, is a river.

While we are enjoying dipping in its cool waters, my mom and Ate Bebe had fun identifying every plants, every trees, every insects and every animals they encountered in the woods.
