Balinsasayaw Twin Lake & Casaroro Falls

My sister and I decided to go backpacking to Dumaguete and contacted a good friend of mine to tour us around.

We took the 4am Ceres Bus at Cebu South Bus Terminal to Bato. Bus fare 170php, estimated travel time 4hrs.

In Bato, we took a ferry from Liloan Port to Sibulan Port (60php boat ticket and 2php terminal fee). Estimated travel time 1 hour.

Upon arriving Sibulan Port, my good friend Zechariah Olis was already waiting to take us on a tour.

He took us to Balinsasayaw Twin Lakes Natural Park located at the highlands of Negros Oriental. Registration and entrance fee is 50php.

At the back of the registration building, you will find a lake with unusual trees floating in its waters with its roots sticking out which reminded me of the Avatar Jungle.

We drove few meters ahead to the viewing deck for the start off point.

We then trekked our way down to Balinsasayaw Twin Lakes. Boats are available at Lake Balinsasayaw. You can either take a paddle boat or walk for 45mins to reach its twin lake.

We decided to rent a boat for 250php and paddle our way to the other side.

Upon reaching the other side of the lake, you will have to trek a few minutes going to its twin lake. You will pass by a viewing deck located in between the lakes where you can view both lakes. This is also where bird watchers rests while they wait.

The other lake was also big. I cant seem to fathom where it leads that i felt so small in this peaceful and mystic side of the world.

We then headed down to Valencia. A municipality in Negros where Casaroro Falls resides.

To access the falls, one has to go down through a series of stairs to reach the falls. You will go through the same stairs going up. So imagine yourself catching your breath, bigger nostrils and tongues out dangling. You will feel like dying.

Casaroro Falls is located at the foot of Mt. Talinis where Filipinos and Americans fought the Japanese Imperial Army during the World War II.

The sight of the falls brought us so much happiness after everything that we have gone through. We had to dip to relax our sore muscles with its ice cold waters. We had to make the most of of our time as we rest before we climb up its deadly stairs again.

For the record, I will never go back to Casaroro Falls ever again. The stairs are so challenging and not for the faint hearted. Its enough that I have seen it.
