BALOBOC CAVE, TAWI-TAWI

Baloboc Cave is located in Brgy. Lakit-Lakit which is an hour away from Bongao proper. Barangay Lakit-lakit derived its name from the word  "lakit"  which means "sharp." Referring to its sharp rocks. Baloboc rock shelter cave archaeological site was declared as an important cultural treasure by the government in 2017. Evidence of human presence in Bongao was carbon-dated to be 8,810 to 5,190 years before the birth of Christ. Shell tools, bones, jars, and other artifacts and fossils were found in Baloboc Cave. This signifies one of the earliest known evidence of human existence in Southeast Asia. BILIRAN WATERFALLS

ULAN-ULAN FALLS The famed waterfalls of Sampao is very picturesque. The walk to Ulan-ulan waterfalls would take a minimum of 30 minutes to reach the place.  There are no cottages along the sides of the stream and it is not a place to stay for overnight camping. Ulan-Ulan comes from the visayan dialect which means " rain. "  The force of the falling waters creates a mist when hit by the sunlight appears a beautiful rainbow. MT. MAUYOG

Mt. Mauyog is also know as the Brain Coral Peak because of its rock textures. Mt. Mauyog derived its name from the word "mauyog" which means "wobbly or shaky" referring to the wobbly stones you will pass before you actually reach the peak. With the fear of falling from these wobbly stones that we had to ask our tour guide, Kuya Jojo on what's beneath if we accidentally fall? Kuya Jojo informed us that beneath the rocks we are stepping on is a cave with a waterfalls and a river. I was imagining a hidden beauty waiting to be explored.   The trek to  Mt. Mauyog will only take you 15-30 mins from jump-off point depending on your pace. Climbing Mt. Mauyog is not for the faint hearted just like my friends. hehehe :-P      We arrived the peak at 5pm.
